So I decided to go ahead and give Windows 7 beta a shot, and so far I'm pretty impressed.
I have been running Vista as my primary OS, but have also had Ubuntu Hardy Heron running as well; as of tonight I'm triple booting adding Windows 7 to the list. I used Lifehacker's post as a guide for creating a new partition on my existing hard drive and installing Windows 7 on the new partition. The install was pretty quick and relatively painless; I was able to simply pick the new partition as the install drive and it was on its way.
The aesthetics are very nice. The Aero features in 7 somehow feel "glassy-er." The fully transparent taskbar, now uncluttered with longer program boxes, has a much cleaner look with only icons to signify which applications are open.
The way the application windows automatically maximize when dragged to the top of the screen and resize for side by side work spaces when minimized is also a very nice touch.
So far there have been no problems. All drivers seem to have installed OK, including printer and video card drivers.
More to come as I log a little more time with it.
