Help adopt pups in need

Got this email from a co-worker, Unfortunately I've already got 2 dogs, otherwise I'd probably take one, but hopefully someone else can help out.

A friend found these and is trying to find a home for them before he has to take them to the pound. If you or anyone you know would be interested, contact jdraper@cbbcbank.com. Thanks!

Do you know anyone that would want a Free Black Lab Puppy? Please let me know if you know of anyone who might be interested! My cousin's friend Scott rescued 6 black lab (mix) puppies out of the middle of the road on Saturday. PLEASE help me find them homes - otherwise, it's Animal Control - which means they only have 5 days. They have bathed them, sprayed them for fleas and wormed them....but they can't keep them. They are currently in a kennel in his basement since he does not have a fence. He has lost count of the number of rescue groups that he has contacted, only to be turned down due to no room. Please check with every dog person you know to see if they need a puppy.

This was listed on UT's vet school homepage: Sorry – no pictures – but many homes needed!! FAST! See list and contact info below! “We are looking for homes for confiscated animals.

They include:
7 German Shepherds (4 males, 3 females, and a litter of puppies),
3 Australian Shepherds (former service dogs),
standard poodles and several Jack Russells.

They are giving us 15 days to find homes for these dogs before they are put down. If you can help provide a home or know of someone who can, please call Lynn Bird at Sevier County Courthouse at (865) 774-3844. Some of these dogs come with papers."

*******Update: Apparently the Lab Pups aren't real according to Snopes, but I'm assuming that the ones from Sevier County are.

*******Update 2: After a quick call to the number listed for the Sevier County Courthouse it was learned that all of those dogs have found a home.

Windows 7 Test Run

So I decided to go ahead and give Windows 7 beta a shot, and so far I'm pretty impressed.

I have been running Vista as my primary OS, but have also had Ubuntu Hardy Heron running as well; as of tonight I'm triple booting adding Windows 7 to the list. I used Lifehacker's post as a guide for creating a new partition on my existing hard drive and installing Windows 7 on the new partition. The install was pretty quick and relatively painless; I was able to simply pick the new partition as the install drive and it was on its way.

The aesthetics are very nice. The Aero features in 7 somehow feel "glassy-er." The fully transparent taskbar, now uncluttered with longer program boxes, has a much cleaner look with only icons to signify which applications are open.

The way the application windows automatically maximize when dragged to the top of the screen and resize for side by side work spaces when minimized is also a very nice touch.

So far there have been no problems. All drivers seem to have installed OK, including printer and video card drivers.

More to come as I log a little more time with it.

Video test

So I want to play around with posting things, particularly video; I've got a few ideas, but we'll see how this all plays out.

here's a clip from a full episode on Hulu:

By the way I'm pretty pumped about the Winter Classic, but I just realized that I was hoping to be on the road to Cincinnati at that time. Now I may have to shift my drive time a little.

Everyone Else is doing it...

So I thought I'd give it a shot. I've been feeling the need to brush up on my writing and storytelling skills for a while, especially with the way jobs in news are going these days. I figure this is as good as any other outlet to do a little writing. Read more!
